Hartley High advances to Area in One Act contest

Hartley High School’s One Act Play cast and crew have won the honor of contending at Area Competition in Amarillo on April 10. Their performance of The Women of Troy won second place at the District competition in Vega on March 4. They placed third at Bi-district, also in Vega, on March 21.

Deputy Morgan joins Hartley County squad

Hartley County Deputy Terry Morgan is not only new to Hartley County, he’s fairly new to law enforcement as well. Morgan graduated from Central Texas Police Academy in Bryan, which he called “the best academy in the state,” on Dec. 8, 2023. He already knew that he wanted to secure a job in the Texas Panhandle because he has a daughter living in Dumas, so he signed on as a deputy in Dawson County. About six weeks later, he learned of the opening here.

Structure fire consumes irrigation supplier

Around 2:10 p.m. Saturday, March 24, the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call for a possible structure fire at Dallam Irrigation, located in the 12000 block of US 87 North. The first unit on the scene confirmed that the structure was blazing with heavy smoke inside.
